William Zepeda does not have a confirmed fight date following his unanimous decision loss to Shakur Stevenson earlier this year, but he remains positioned for another title opportunity at lightweight.
Zepeda suffered the first defeat of his professional career on July 12, losing a 12-round decision to Stevenson in Queens, New York. The fight went the distance, with Zepeda applying sustained pressure throughout the bout. While the judges’ scorecards favored Stevenson, Zepeda remained competitive across all twelve rounds.
As of late December 2025, no return bout has been officially announced or reported for Zepeda. No fight date has been listed by promoters or sanctioning bodies, and no negotiations have been confirmed publicly.
Despite the loss and the absence of a scheduled next fight, Zepeda remains highly ranked within the division. He is currently rated No. 2 by the World Boxing Council and No. 3 by the World Boxing Organization at lightweight. Those rankings keep him within range of another title shot depending on movement at the top of the division.
Zepeda has not announced any changes to his team or training situation since the Stevenson fight. There has been no indication of injury or retirement considerations following the bout.
No mandatory bout involving Zepeda has been ordered, and no timetable for his return to the ring has been announced. His status within the title picture remains unchanged.
