- Devin Haney
- Gervonta Davis
- Shakur Stevenson
- Abdullah Mason
Of the four, the ones that Floyd Sr. wants most for his son, Schofield Jr., are Tank, Haney, and Shakur. He views them as more important than Abdullah, saying he doesn’t believe they’ll be around much longer.
Haney and Shakur aren’t going anywhere, but their careers could enter a decline if they begin facing riskier opposition they’ve thus far avoided. A move into those types of fights could be disastrous, similar to what we saw in Haney’s loss to Ryan Garcia.
In Shakur’s case, many fighters at 135 and 140 would be all wrong for his career. He had a hard enough time getting past William Zepeda and Edwin De Los Santos.
“We’ve been calling all of them. We want their Four Horsemen. They’re great, so we could take the torch from them, then we’ll fight Mason and the rest of them that come up,” said Floyd Schofield Sr. to MillCity Boxing about wanting his son, ‘Kid Austin,’ to snatch the torch from ‘The Big Four.’
There’s little chance that Schofield will get a shot at WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis. He’s been selective with the opposition he’s faced during his career. With his hand speed and power, Schofield doesn’t fit the mold of the fighters Tank Davis has typically fought as a pro.
Of course, if Turki Alalshikh offers Tank an enormous purse to fight Schofield, that’s different. That scenario seems unlikely, given there are more popular fighters who would make more appealing options for Turki to match Tank with. Shakur is one of them.
“We want all of them. For ‘Kid’ [Schofield Jr.] to be the greatest of all time, he’s got to fight all the greats of this time. We want ‘Tank,’ because he’s going to retire soon, and he’s one of the greats. We want Shakur. We want Mason, but he’s got some growing to do still,” said Schofield Sr.
‘Kid Austin’ may have scared away “The Four Horsemen” with his recent first-round knockout win over Tevin Farmer on June 28, 2025. After that performance, Schofield’s chances of landing any of the four he wants may have gone downhill.
“These other guys are about to leave. We wanted Devin. We’ve been calling him since he was at 135.”
It’s difficult to see any of the top names giving Schofield Jr. a chance take the torch from them. He’s likely to be invisible to them, alongside talents like Andy Cruz and Ernesto Mercado.
