White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt didn’t answer why President Donald Trump falsely asserted on Monday that Iran has access to the U.S.-made Tomahawk cruise missile, the weapon likely used to strike a girls school in Iran, killing 165 people.

In a press briefing Tuesday, she responded in part that “the president has a right to share his opinions with the American public” while noting “he has said he’ll accept the conclusion of that investigation.”

Raytheon, the U.S. manufacturer of the Tomahawk, sells the weapon to some allies, but there is no evidence to suggest that Iran has gotten its hands on the cruise missile.
When asked Monday why he was the only person in his administration making the claim, Trump replied, “Because I just don’t know enough about it.”
