Promoter Frank Warren says he would be open to a third fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, though he acknowledged that the current heavyweight title picture makes any immediate rematch difficult to arrange.
Usyk currently holds three major heavyweight titles, each with mandatory challengers waiting in line. Under sanctioning body rules, those obligations must be satisfied unless an exception is granted. Warren noted that failing to reach agreements would leave Usyk with little choice but to vacate belts one at a time.
That scenario has already played out once. Usyk vacated his WBO title rather than proceed with a mandatory defence against Fabio Wardley, who was elevated to full champion as a result. Warren suggested similar outcomes could follow if exemptions cannot be secured for the remaining titles.
According to Warren, arranging exceptions across multiple sanctioning bodies would require broad approval, making the process complex. He described the situation as congested, with several fighters waiting for title opportunities and limited flexibility to accommodate voluntary defences or legacy bouts.
Fury’s status adds another variable. The former heavyweight champion has not fought since his second defeat to Usyk in December 2024 and has yet to announce a return date or opponent. Warren indicated that before any discussion of another Usyk fight can be taken seriously, Fury would need to re enter the ring in a preparatory bout to end his inactivity.
Despite the logistical hurdles, Warren reiterated his interest in a trilogy based on the quality of the first two fights. He praised Usyk’s accomplishments and described him as the leading heavyweight in the division, while also noting that both previous bouts with Fury delivered competitive and entertaining action.
Still, Warren stopped short of presenting the idea as imminent. At the moment, there’s more talk than there is a clear way to actually make the fight. With mandatory challengers waiting and Fury still without a scheduled comeback, any third meeting would depend on how the title situation develops and whether compromises can be reached in the months ahead.
