Madrimov Set For January 24 Return In opposition to Salazar

Matchroom released a short training video of Israil Madrimov on social media ahead of his return fight later this month. Madrimov is scheduled to face Luis David Salazar in a ten round junior middleweight contest on January 24, 2026.

The bout will serve as the chief support on the Andy Cruz vs. Raymond Muratalla card, which will stream on DAZN. It will be Madrimov’s first fight since suffering back to back defeats in 2025.

Madrimov lost by stoppage to Vergil Ortiz Jr. in February 2025, followed by a decision loss to Terence Crawford in August. His promoter Eddie Hearn has since stated that Madrimov entered the Ortiz fight while dealing with a chest infection, which affected his preparation and performance.

Hearn has also maintained that Madrimov deserved the decision in the Crawford fight, a view shared by some observers. Despite those arguments, the losses remain on his record. Madrimov now stands at 10 wins, 2 defeats, and 1 draw.

The upcoming fight against Salazar represents an opportunity for Madrimov to reset after a difficult year at the top level. Salazar enters as a lower profile opponent, but the bout still provides Madrimov with rounds and activity following a lengthy layoff.

The fight is scheduled to take place at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
