Grand Egyptian Museum to show tomb work bringing historical Egypt to life




The Grand Egyptian Museum, which held its opening ceremony on Saturday, will showcase tomb paintings and other artefacts offering insight into ancient Egyptian life, said Salima Ikram, Distinguished Professor of Egyptology at the American University in Cairo. The paintings depict ordinary people engaged in everyday activities — “they’re fishing, they’re fowling, they’re cooking,” Ikram said.
