Tapo’s new photo voltaic floodlight digicam soaks up the solar to gentle your yard

TP-Link’s Tapo smart home brand announced a new solar-powered outdoor security camera with pan-tilt capabilities, 2K video recording, and an 800-lumen LED floodlight. Tapo says the C615F can operate for as long as 24 hours with just 45 minutes of sunlight, and it’s now available through Tapo’s online store and Amazon for $89.99 for a limited time, or $99.99 regularly.

On battery life alone, Tapo says the C615F can potentially operate for up to 140 days, but that will vary based on how frequently the camera, floodlight, and functions like performing scheduled scans of your yard are used. Recordings can be stored locally on a microSD card up to 512GB in size, or online with a subscription to the Tapo Care cloud service, which starts at $3.49 per month or $34.99 per year.

The angle and brightness of the C615F’s floodlight can be adjusted during installation to illuminate specific areas, and it can be turned on manually or set to come on automatically when triggered by motion. The camera offers more flexibility, rotating 360 degrees and tilting up to 130 degrees on its own and is capable of identifying and tracking people, vehicles, and pets as part of its standard functionality without additional subscription fees.

Other features include a mic and speaker for two-way communications, color night vision with infrared LEDs to improve the quality of its video in low-light areas where the floodlight isn’t shining, and an IP65 dust and waterproof rating so you don’t have to worry about rain or snow.
