Primera Analytical Solutions (Primera), an FDA-compliant analytical Contract Research Organization (CRO), has selected Cenevo’s Labguru electronic lab notebook (ELN) and inventory management platform to streamline its transition from a paper-heavy environment to a fully digitalized workflow.

Cenevo specializes in lab management systems, automation, orchestration, data management and AI technology for life sciences. Labguru provides an all-in-one cloud-based laboratory data management research-to-production platform, combining ELN, inventory management, registration, laboratory information management system (LIMS) and AI-based informatics tools. Scientists utilize Labguru to plan, document, track, streamline, automate and share their scientific research.

Primera, founded in 2002, provides comprehensive analytical and bioanalytical services to the global pharmaceutical and biotech industry, from early development through commercialization. As Primera is scaling its business, they are increasing their focus on improving efficiency, reducing costs and maintaining strong FDA compliance.

“To support our vision for long-term growth, we needed to embrace digitalization,” said Steve Grossman, Vice President of Operations at Primera. “Cenevo’s flexible all-in-one electronic lab notebook and inventory management system is allowing us to take a major step toward reducing operational costs and sample processing time by streamlining activities and increasing efficiency, while simultaneously making it easier to comply with regulations.”

The Cenevo solutions will allow Primera to manage projects, protocols, results, and metadata in one place, structured, traceable and ready to scale. They will deliver an end-to-end workflow, making it simple for Primera to manage the entire lifecycle, from sample receipt to tracking, testing and data delivery. As Primera’s work is only as successful as its ability to fulfill client requirements, the new customer portal feature will provide complete transparency to its clients.

Cenevo will provide Primera with a validated server and comprehensive validation package, as required by the FDA, and a robust audit trail, ensuring data integrity for QA and client reviews. Its integration with most lab hardware tools adds automated data capture and instrument tracking, reducing human errors and improving efficiency.

Primera will leverage Labguru’s off-the-shelf integrations to connect existing lab instruments, including Mettler Toledo balances and pH meters, and other instruments that have traditionally been challenging to integrate. The platform will also make it easy for Primera to implement bar coding for patient samples and consumables inventory and supply tracking to ensure precision in a high-volume environment.

Primera’s team was able to get a pilot built and up and running quickly, as the intuitive interface allowed them to configure the platform themselves with minimal assistance from the Cenevo team.

“Beyond our specialized CRO solution set, our client-facing team has extensive real-world CRO experience,” said Keith Hale, CEO of Cenevo. “Our tailored solution and industry experience will help guide Primera through the steps they need to fully embrace automation and digitalization in their highly specialized environment.”
