Teofimo Calls On DAZN, Ring To Enhance Shakur Promotion

Teofimo Lopez took aim at the promotion around his upcoming fight with Shakur Stevenson, calling on DAZN and The Ring to raise the visibility of the event.

Lopez posted on social media asking for promotional teasers and in gym footage to be released ahead of the January 31 bout. The message was a clear push for more activity around a fight that is nearing fight week with little public momentum.

The WBO light welterweight champion has been largely absent from the build up so far, leaving Stevenson to handle most of the media duties. That has not helped. Stevenson has repeated the same talking points in nearly every interview, leaning on familiar lines about levels and exposure. The repetition has drained energy from the promotion and has done little to pull in casual interest.

Lopez’s frustration appears aimed as much at the platforms as at his opponent. With the fight set for DAZN pay per view at Madison Square Garden, the expectation is a steady release of visual content to sell the event. That has not happened.

By calling out DAZN and The Ring directly, Lopez signaled that the current approach is not enough. His post framed the request as a simple fix. More footage. More presence. More urgency. With weeks left, the promotional burden has shifted back to the people paid to create it.
