Atang, a British heavyweight competing in his third professional bout, recorded the win by referee stoppage following a sequence of unanswered punches. The referee intervened without issuing a count. The official time of the stoppage was not announced at ringside.
With the result, Atang improved to 3-0, with all three wins coming by knockout. Yusuf, representing Uganda, suffered the first defeat of his professional career and moved to 3-1.
The bout was contested at heavyweight and was scheduled for four rounds. Yusuf entered the contest unbeaten and was making his first appearance outside of Uganda. Atang was making his first professional appearance in Africa.
Saturday’s contest followed Atang’s professional debut earlier this year, when he stopped Milen Paunov in the first round, and a subsequent first-round stoppage win over Cristian Uwaka. All three of Atang’s professional bouts have ended inside the opening round.
Atang, 18, is managed by Matchroom Boxing and promoted by Eddie Hearn. He previously competed as an amateur before turning professional in 2025. His development has been overseen by Matchroom as part of a long-term heavyweight prospect plan.
The Accra card was headlined by Richards vs. Azeez and featured several international bouts as part of Matchroom’s expansion into African boxing markets. The event took place at the Legion Sports Stadium, also referred to locally as Legon Sports Stadium.
No injuries were reported following the Atang-Yusuf contest. There was no immediate announcement regarding Atang’s next fight.
