Edwin De Los Santos scored a lightning-fast first-round knockout of Eliot Chavez last Saturday night in a lightweight bout in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Coming off two years of inactivity, De Los Santos stalked Chavez around the ring at the opening bell, absorbing a few shots while looking to land his right hand.
Right Hand Lands
De Los Santos backed Chavez up against the ropes and dropped him with a clean right hook to the head.
Chavez initially fell on his back, rolled over, and the fight was immediately halted. The time on the clock was 2:20 in round one.

Chavez’s corner motioned for him not to continue. He’d taken a big shot from De Los Santos, and it would have been a bad idea for him to get up and resume fighting in that condition.
Before last night, De Los Santos hadn’t fought since his loss to Shakur Stevenson in 2023. That was the infamous fight in which Shakur moved all night and avoided engaging the heavy-punching De Los Santos.
Power on Display
Given the power De Los Santos showed against Chavez, it’s understandable why Stevenson chose to stay on the move for 12 rounds and was booed loudly by the Las Vegas crowd.
De Los Santos hits too hard for fighters to stand in the pocket and engage. Chavez briefly tried last night but was taken out immediately with a right hook from Edwin.
With the victory, the 26-year-old De Los Santos’s record is now 17-0 with 15 knockouts. Chavez’s record drops to 12-8-1 with 7 knockouts.
Last Saturday’s fight was staged at the Coliseo de Boxeo Carlos ‘Teo’ Cruz in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
