Why Duck Joshua For One other Usyk Loss?

Eddie Hearn says he doesn’t understand what the delay is that is keeping Tyson Fury from agreeing to fight Anthony Joshua. It annoyed Hearn that Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) is interested in coming back to fight Oleksandr Usyk a third time, but he’s not willing to fight Joshua.

The 0–2 Reality Check

“AJ would love to fight Usyk again. But he also understands it’s not really a fight he can call for just yet because he’s coming off a defeat, and he’s lost to him twice before,” said Eddie Hearn to Sky Sports Boxing.

Hearn could have set up a third fight between Joshua and Usyk if he’d wanted to. It’s not like the fight would have been impossible to make. AJ and Hearn would have needed to campaign for it. If Eddie had asked Turki Alalshikh to help him out on this, he’d likely have made the Joshua vs. Usyk fight by now.

“Just like the reality is, Tyson Fury’s coming off two defeats. The trilogy being 2-0 down is not really something that happens a lot,” said Hearn about a potential trilogy between Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.

Hearn is right. You rarely see a third fight when the first two were won by one fighter. Fury did it before when he fought Derek Chisora for a third time after beating him in the first two fights.

Fans Want AJ, Not Usyk

“No one’s interested in Fury against Usyk, no one’s interested in AJ against Usyk, they’ve seen it twice and it was the same result both times. People are interested in AJ against Fury
I don’t know what the delay is for the inevitability of just saying Of course, let’s make the fight,” said Hearn. I think [it has to happen]. Why delay the inevitable?”

There are a lot of fans who are very interested in seeing Usyk and Fury fight again. It’s entertaining watching the two during the build-up, listening to ‘The Gypsy King’ play the victim role, trying to get fans to pity him. He’s the poor rich man.

Closure Before Chaos

Hearn needs to get it through his head that Fury is convinced that he deserved the victory in his two fights with Usyk. He believes he can beat Oleksandr in the third fight, and he wants to avenge those losses before he can move ahead to fight Joshua.

Once Tyson gets some closure on what happened in the two Usyk fights, he’s going to target Joshua. He knows how much money will be at stake, and he’s not going to target a smaller payday against someone equally as tough, if not tougher.
